...I know the term "self-care" remains a popular buzzword that many of us tout. While it is super important, real self-care is so much more than spa days and mani-pedis. Real self-care requires adopting a radical self-care mindset.
This means we don't view self-care as selfish, self-indulgent, or about ignoring the needs of others.
A radical self-care mindset simply means that we understand how necessary it is to intentionally and daily choose to make yourself and your needs a priority. That's it. Intentionally and daily choose to make yourself and your needs a priority. Who doesn't need to do that? Well if you don't know, WE ALL DO!
Radical self-care is essential for our overall health and well-being.
It's about not creating a life from which you regularly seek escape. And radical self-care has levels. At the minimum, we need the basics which includes adequate sleep, time for play/leisure, and good nutrition. Then we need things like physical, emotional, and relational self self-care through practices such as exercise, stress management, and healthy boundaries. Lastly we need financial and spiritual self-care habits.
